
Certified Advanced Accident Investigation Specialist Course (CAAIS)
Course Description
This course is designed for personnel assigned to conduct and manage major accident or incident investigations, as well as those designated to perform such investigations. Participants are taught to focus their activities on defining the facts and circumstances related to the event, determining the causes, and developing remedial actions to control the risks.
Participants also learn to use nine guidelines for effective interviewing and practice conducting interviews. They become skilled at identifying various types of evidence, including paper evidence contained in records, and applying a loss causation/problem-solving model to analyze evidence. The course includes mock accident and incident investigations, where participants complete the appropriate information in an accident investigation report.
