Course Description

The Certified Health Hazard Awareness Technician (CHHAT) course provides comprehensive training on identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace health hazards that can affect employee safety and long-term well-being. Designed for employers, supervisors, safety professionals, technicians, and workers across various industries, this OSHA-aligned program builds essential knowledge for recognizing occupational health risks and implementing effective hazard control strategies.

Participants will learn how to identify common workplace health hazards, including chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic exposures that may lead to occupational illnesses or injuries. The course explores exposure pathways, health effects, workplace monitoring techniques, and the principles of industrial hygiene used to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control health hazards before they impact employees.

Students will gain practical knowledge of engineering controls, administrative controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices that reduce workplace exposure and improve overall occupational health. Through practical workshops and real-world scenarios, participants will also develop the skills to evaluate workplace hazards, recommend corrective actions, and support compliance with OSHA regulations and industry health and safety standards.

Upon successful completion, participants will be equipped to recognize workplace health hazards, contribute to effective health and safety programs, promote regulatory compliance, and help create healthier, safer working environments across general industry, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, laboratories, and other occupational settings.
